Butler
Butler is a village in Waukesha County, WI. It is also known as Train Town USA. Butler gets its nickname because it would not exist without the railroad. In 1909 delegates from the Milwaukee, Sparta, and North Western Railway bought some land from farmers. They planned on creating a railroad yard near Milwaukee. The “New Butler” railroad yards became the New Butler settlement in 1911.
The “New” in New Butler was dropped from the village’s name in 1926. Today, the village celebrates its unique history by funding the Clarke House Historical Museum and offering tours of Northwestern Caboose #11207.
